Carbon Valley, Mead Victim Assistance Program
On October 13, 2022, The Town of Frederick Police Department received notice from the Nineteenth Judicial District Victim Assistance & Law Enforcement (VALE) Board that town was awarded $51,000 for a new victim assistance program for the Carbon Valley (Dacono, Firestone, and Frederick), Mead region. The grant will support a new program coordinator to create a program that offers referrals to community support programs and communication updates for VRA victims' investigations. The Town of Frederick will be the fiduciary agent for the funding, and the coordinator will be in Frederick. Each of the four municipalities will have representatives as the governing body and will meet quarterly to review and adjust program goals to provide victim services to our community. The program’s goals include:
- Respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims.
- Assist primary and secondary victims of crime to stabilize their lives after a victimization.
- Assist victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system.
- Provide victims of crime with a measure of safety and security.
The program projected start date is January 1, 2023.
Communications Department Awarded SIPA Mirco Grant
On September 13, 2022, Town of Frederick Communications department was awarded for $4,000 from the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) for professional services to provide managed accessibility monitoring for all Frederick citizens, including persons with disabilities, for the Town of Frederick’s website domain (Frederickco.gov). The technology will provide the following services for digital inclusion: standardized accessibility messaging, web personalization tools, and automated and manual test results to provide feedback for Audioeye Engineers to develop custom, site-specific remediation to fix issues of accessibility. In addition to the technology services, the project will allow the Town of Frederick to be in compliance with HB21-110. The inclusive technology services will increase citizen accessibility and the ability to participate with government officials’ communication channels specifically the website. The services will start in January 2023.
