Digital Accessibility Progress
The Town of Frederick is committed to providing equitable access to everyone. Our ongoing accessibility efforts work toward a future where all town services, programs, and activities are accessible, ensuring equal access to information and services for everyone in our community.
To achieve this, the Town of Frederick is developing a comprehensive accessibility plan that prioritizes, evaluates, remediates, and continuously improves every digital touchpoint across our services, programs, and activities. Below, you'll find just some of the measures that the Town of Frederick is implementing to make this vision a reality.
- June, 2021 – Contract with Monsido for website auditing and accessibility tool overlay.
- January, 2023 – Replaced Monsido with AudioEye to integrate a visual toolkit which displays options to accommodate different needs. AudioEye also completes audits, provides website accessibility scores, and mitigates accessibility issues on the website.
- May, 2024 – Updated the Town Accessibility Statement on the website.
- July 2, 2024 – The Town of Frederick's Digital Accessibility plan was finalized and updated on the website.
- December, 2024 - Created a webpage to track and share digital accessibility efforts and progress.
- June, 2025 - Monthly Newsletter redesigned on website as a web page.
- June, 2025 - Created accessible online forms from outdated pdfs for the Planning and Building Departments.
- June, 2025 - Created an accessible template for the Police News Releases.
- July, 2025 - Ensured oil and gas information is consolidated into a single, accessible information hub.
- August, 2025 - Ongoing improvements to module consistency, header tags and alt text to improve user navigation.
- September, 2025 - Mass removal of inaccessible documents from the website.
- November, 2025 - Conducted a Monsido website crawl to track and fix broken links.
- December, 2025 - Continued to work across departments to streamline website content and online forms.
- January, 2026 - Created an internal Communications Help Center to provide brand and accessibility guidelines for Town staff.
- February, 2026 - Signed a contract with DocAccess to ensure site-wide accessibility assistance by providing an html format instantly.
- March 2023 – Collaborate with various municipalities to discuss House Bill 21-1110 and share resources.
- March 15, 2024 - Develop Microsoft Teams Digital Accessibility channel for effective and efficient continuous communications.
- March 26, 2024 - Communication and Engagement Department team members Accessibility meeting.
- April 17, 2024 – Accessibility Committee meeting to define a plan and next steps.
- June 19, 2024 – Accessibility Champions meeting to present an Accessibility overview.
- November, 13, 2024 – Accessibility Champions meeting to follow-up.
- December, 2024 - Digital Media Specialist meetings with each champion to discuss PDF and webpage management.
- June, 2025 - Met with Planning and Building Department Representatives to maintain continued document remediation.
- July, 2025 - Began collaborating with IT/GIS to create accessible digital Town maps.
- August, 2025 - Met with Bella Rosa management to discuss the golf course website accessibility and next steps towards improved compliance.
- September, 2025 - Streamlined and remediated Board presentations with the Town team members.
- November, 2025 - Met with Parks and Open Space to create an accessible template for the Annual Masterplan.
- January, 2026 - Held a multi-department meeting to ensure online form best practices.
- February, 2026 - Onboarding with DocAccess to fully understand the new software capability.
- March 5, 2024 – Created website accessibility training video for all town staff.
- July 2024 - Partnered with "The Accessibility Guy" to roll out a training pathway to learn about accessibility across multiple platforms. This also allowed employees to seek specific help from subject matter experts.
- September 2024 - IT Department and Communications and Engagement Department attended numerous accessibility presentations at the 2024 SIPA Conference.
- November 2024 - Communications and Engagement team attended the Demystifying Digital Accessibility webinar presented by 3CMA.
- December 2024 - Created basic training on how to make Civic Plus Websites Accessible.
- December 18, 2024 - Communications and Engagement Team Member attended a webinar through SIPA with Allyant/CommonLook: Making PDFs Accessible to Meet HB21-1110 Compliance.
- January 9, 2025 Attend Adams County Deputy Jordan Smith training on ADA laws and compliance.
- January 16, 2025 - Communications Team member attended Civic Plus Training: Digital Equity - What it is and why it's important to Maintain for Your Government Website?
- February 12, 2025 - Communications Team Member attended Allyant Common Look Online Training.
- June 18, 2025 - Communications Team Member completed additional training added to "The Accessibility Guy" training.
- October 23, 2025 - Town-wide Digital Accessibility Lunch and Learn in the Board Chambers.
- February, 2026 - Training with DocAccess to fully understand the new software capability.
Small, non-complex PDFs are being remediated in-house, with more significant, complex documents sent to The Accessibility Guy for Remediation.
- April, 2024 - Received quote for outsourcing all website PDF documents for remediation.
- April, 2024 Received grant from Colorado State Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) for Allyant CommonLook remediation tool.
- May, 2024 - Install licenses for CommonLook and Adobe Acrobat on Accessibility Champions computers to remediate PDF's.
- June, 2024 - PDF remediation training - ongoing
- December, 2024 - Deployed updated CommonLook online with select Accessibility Champions for easier web-based document remediation.
- December, 2024 - Remediation of the 2050 Comprehensive Plan - 107 Pages.
- January, 2025 - Remediation of PowerPoint Template used across all Town departments.
- January, 2025 - Remediation of 482 pages of Planning and Engineering Department PDFs.
- June, 2025 - Updated the remediated PowerPoint Template used across all Town departments.
- July, 2025 - Remediated the 2024 ACFR to be uploaded on the website under Finance.
- August, 2025 - Began remediating Oil & Gas Standard Documents to be added to the website.
- September, 2025 - Ensured the yearly submitted Finance Fee Schedule was fully accessible before being distributed.
- November, 2025 - Frederick Police Department Annual Report and the Town Proposed Budget documents in the remediation process.
- January, 2026 - Remediated all Town-wide templates to be used by Town staff.
- February, 2026 - Updated and remediated the Municipal Court page and the documents pertaining to it.
August 21, 2023 – Received Accessibility score link from Audio eye.
- January 3 2024 – Received the Technology Accessibility Rules from the Governor's Office of IT outlining requirements for HB21-1110.
- March 11, 2024 – Designed a print version of the version 1 Accessibility plan for basic Town information.
- March 18, 2024 – Created an Communications and Engagement Departmental Accessibility inventory.
- April 12, 2024 – Complete version of the TOF Accessibility plan submitted to legal.
- April 15, 2024 – Received Web accessibility Service estimate from Be Accessible.
- April 22, 2024 – Received complete list of Software inventory from IT.
- May 2024 - Submit Grant Application to the Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) for AudioEye subscription renewal. Not Awarded.
- June 17 – Developed Vendor Checklist and sent it to IT.
- June 3 – Town Matrix of Accessibility champions for each department identified.
- July 2024 - Partnered with subject matter expert "The Accessibility Guy," to provide town training, consultation, and document remediation.
- July 2, 2024 – The Town of Frederick Digital Accessibility plan updated.
- July 27, 2024 – Completed reporting for SIPA Allyant CommonLook grant.
- May 19, 2025 - Hire FTE with emphasis on Digital Accessibility responsibilities.
- October 8, 2025 - Inquiry on the installation of the Jaws Screen Reader Software.
- February, 2026 - Attended a webinar surrounding My Civic Latest Product Updates pertaining to digital accessibility.
