Event Details
Miners Day is our premier community event that originated as a celebration to honor and remember Frederick’s mining heritage. This annual event features family-oriented fun and entertainment throughout the day including a parade, burro race, vendors, food trucks, activities, contests, and live entertainment. Per tradition, Miners Day will conclude with a spectacular evening concert and fireworks display.

6th Annual Miners Day Pack Burro Race
Presented by Premier Members Credit Union
Celebrate Miners Day with this great sport begun by some of Colorado’s 19th-century miners. Curious about the Pack Burro Race Route? The 10K race will start at Fifth Street and Oak Street (Downtown Frederick), head north along the trail and through the tunnel towards the Frederick Recreation Area, loop around Milavec Lake, head back south to the Frederick Gateway at Colorado Blvd. and Hwy 52 and then back north to the finish line in Centennial Park. There are some small bridges along the paved trail.

Bingo & Beverages with the Burros on Miners Day Eve
Get ready for a unique experience and join us, and Premier Members Credit Union, for Beverages with the Burros on Friday, September 15 in Crist Park (105 Fifth St.). Enjoy non-alcoholic beverages and snacks from 4 to 6 pm while you meet the Rocky Mountain Beverage Burros and tour the Miners Museum. Plus - get your dauber ready for some bingo! It's free to play and available for all members of the family to enjoy and possibly win some sweet Frederick swag and local business gift cards.

Volunteer!
We could not do this event without volunteers! We need help with event set-up, parade, burro race, booth set up, and more. If you would like to spend the day honoring Frederick's mining heritage and serving your community, this is your opportunity. It's all hands on deck for our biggest event of the year. 8:00 am | Wreath Ceremony: Join us in downtown Frederick first thing in the morning to commemorate and celebrate the mining heritage of Frederick. This wreath-laying ceremony is a tradition of honoring and remembrance. Meet us at the Miners Museum and Memorial Wall (105 Fifth St.) at 8:00 am to take part in this ceremony. Miners Memorial Museum: Honor Frederick's mining heritage and learn more about our Town's rich history at the Miners Memorial Museum. Explore the original artifacts and tools miners used, a diorama of the early town, an authentic coal stove, and more. The museum will be open between 8 am and 10 am in downtown Frederick's Crist Park. |
10:00 am | Parade Begins The parade starts at Aspen Drive and Tipple Parkway. The parade will head west on Tipple Parkway, then turn south on Oak Street to Fifth Street. Then the parade will turn east on Fifth Street to Locust Street. Finally, the parade will turn south on Locust Street and end at Centennial Park (630 Eighth St.). View the map of the parade route. |
