Hydrant Meter Process

The Town of Frederick provides authorized customers and contractors with controlled access to designated Town hydrants when large volumes of water are required for construction, maintenance, or other approved operational needs. This ensures safe, accountable, and efficient use of Frederick's water infrastructure.

If you are interested in renting a hydrant meter, please review and follow the steps outlined below to complete the application and approval process.

1. Complete the Town's Hydrant Meter Application.
2. Administrative Services staff will review your request for eligibility, location needs, and compliance with applicable regulations.
3. Upon approval, staff will contact you to arrange for payment of the required $4,500 Hydrant Meter deposit.
4. Once the deposit has been paid, you will be provided instructions for pickup at the Town's Public Works Facility.
5. Return the meter by the agreed-upon date, or upon project completion.
6. Staff will inspect the meter for damage. If no issues are found, your deposit will be refunded after inspection.
