About Business Licenses
The Town of Frederick Municipal Code states “Whenever any person, firm or corporation engages in the operations or conduct of any business or establishment or in doing business or engaging in activity for profit as designated and set out herein, such corporation so engaged or occupied shall be subject to the requirements of the Business License Chapter."
Depending on the type of business, an investigation and/or inspection may be completed by various agencies or Town departments. These investigations or inspections may be completed by the Town of Frederick Building Inspector, Town of Frederick Planning Division, Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District Chief, Weld County Health Department and/or by other entities assigned by the Town Board.
One benefit of obtaining a business license is the ability to be listed in the Business Directory on the Town's website.
Process for Obtaining a License
- Obtain a Certificate of Good Standing from the State of Colorado
- Complete the Business License Application, attaching a copy of your Certificate of Good Standing
Upon submission of the completed application, it will be reviewed by the Town's Building, Engineering, and Planning Divisions, as well as the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District. Once approved, payment can be made according to the Business License Fee Schedule, at which time the business license can be released to the applicant.
If you have any questions, please contact the Administrative Services Division at 720.382.5605 or businesslicenses@frederickco.gov.
