Future Regional Park and Open Space Planning

About the Project

The Town of Frederick is conducting a significant strategic planning effort for our Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Trails system. As a component of that, Town staff are conceptually site-planning key areas, including Frederick Recreation Area (FRA), Centennial Park, Crist Park, and a future regional park and open space.

In early summer 2024, the Town presented an initial concept to spur conversations with our community on the vision for a future regional park and open space over the next 20 to 30 years. The final concept featured here considers those conversations with our community and stakeholders through various outreach opportunities such as this project website, social media, one-on-one discussions, Community Tour and Talk in-person outings, and the Frederick in Flight and Chainsaws and Chuckwagons events.

In 2025 & 2026, Park Staff will work to complete a full master plan for this park and open space area, which will take this final concept plan and develop a funding strategy, construction phasing, additional design details and will incorporate this site into our overall system planning.
