The Mayor and Trustees are elected by the registered voters of Frederick to represent their best interests in legislative and land-use matters. The mayor and all six trustees are elected on an at-large basis. Mayoral and Trustees serve four-year terms. The Mayor only votes to break a tie.
The Mayor and Board of Trustees are charged with a great responsibility to their constituents. Among those responsibilities, the Board must make the final decision regarding whether or not to approve land use applications, whether or not to enter the Town into contracts, whether or not to approve local ordinances, and many others. These individuals spend many hours studying the issues facing the Town so they can make the right decisions when called on to vote every second and fourth Tuesday.
