This project is intended to create a master plan for parks, open space, and trails throughout the Town of Frederick. The master plan will enable us to formally inventory our existing parks and trails, define the types of parks and trails and evaluate their related service areas, prescribe standards for critical components (e.g. trail width, surface type and depth, and amenities), provide design considerations, and devise a program to acquire open space based on citizen priorities.
The goals and objectives of the project are to:
- Determine community members’ wants, needs, and priorities for park and trail development and open space preservation.
- Ensure that all parks, trails, and open lands contribute to Frederick’s quality of life and character and that all community members have a variety of opportunities to recreate, interact, and connect with the outdoors.
- Devise park and trail standards.
- Prioritize open space acquisitions.
