Just the facts. This week all Frederick residents received notification with their utility bills of the opportunity to take part in the first statistically valid community survey that has been administered within the town. Several dozen households have already completed the survey online and many others are choosing to turn in a hard copy of the survey at Town Hall. The survey project is in the process of gathering demographic data and is also allowing residents to share opinions and rank the relative value of municipal services.
An Incentive. In order to encourage participation from as many households as possible, responding residents will have the option of being entered into a random drawing for the chance to receive one of twenty $25 credits on the April utility bills. In order to be eligible for the prize drawing, surveys must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.
The Project. The town has contracted with a group of graduate public administration students to create a community survey and provide a statistical analysis of the information collected. The service is being provided free of charge by Brigham Young University’s Institute of Public Management. Results from the tabulated survey responses will be published on the town website and in future editions of the “Frederick Report” community newsletter.
The Purpose. With the dynamic growth that has occurred in Frederick over the past several years, this exciting project will provide an opportunity for the community to learn who they are and the data collected will be utilized in by town officials in creating future budgets and understanding the community’s opinions and preferences on resource usage and priorities.
