The Town of Frederick is extremely grateful for the many community residents, businesses, and other organizations that gave of their time and resources through the 2009 Santa Cops program during this year’s busy holiday season to provide the gift of happiness to dozens of families within the Frederick community!
This year’s Santa Cops program was the source of holiday gifts for more than 140 children in Frederick. The donations for the 2009 program included toys, warm winter clothing, and other heartfelt gifts and monetary donations from area churches, schools, businesses, and individual residents, many of which were contributed anonymously. After the referrals for potential recipients were submitted, reviewed, and approved, volunteers utilized the donated funds to purchase gifts with the specified needs of the individual children in mind. After the purchased and donated gifts were wrapped and compiled, Santa himself visited with each family and passed out the gifts to the children.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together in the spirit of giving and provide for the needs of the good people of Frederick. It is our hope that this program will continue for many years to come,” said Derek Todd, Frederick’s Town Administrator.
