The Town of Frederick Police Department is introducing a new program to encourage residents to assist local law enforcement called Dog Walker Watch. The first training session will be held April 25th, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Frederick Police Department, 333 5th St Frederick, Colorado.Dog Walker Watch encourages dog owners to act as extra eyes and ears while out walking their dog. Frederick residents interested in participating in the program must attend a brief training with the Frederick Police Department where they will learn how to spot suspicious behavior, when to call 911, reporting tips and safety reminders.“We feel this program will enhance the partnership between the police and the community while also providing resources on how to be more aware so they can effectively observe and report suspicious activity,” said Frederick Police Chief Todd Norris.Owners are asked to leave their dogs at home during the training. However, anyone who attends will receive official Dog Walker Watch “swag” for their pet, signifying their participation in the program.
