Discover New Website Features

Welcome to the new and improved www.frederickco.gov! The biggest change you’ll notice about this new website is that you can view the same exact version on your smartphone, tablet or other mobile device due to its new mobile-friendly design.  Let’s walk through a few other features you might be interested in.

Buttons
You’ll notice these six buttons on each page you go to, they follow you around (at the bottom of each page) and represent some of the things we know our website visitors are most interested in:
  • Development Center – this area has everything you need to know about starting a development project in Frederick
  • Maps/GIS – use the interactive mapping tools to find out property information, park and school locations, measurements and much more.
  • Submit A Request – use this tool to submit questions and alert the town of things that need to addressed around town like potholes, graffiti and much more.
  • Online Bill Pay – use this button to be taken directly to Xpress Bill Pay to pay your utility bills online.
  • Employment – Search job openings with the Town and throughout the community.
  • Notify Me – sign up for email updates including our weekly newsletter, The Frederick Flash.
Home Page Features
  • Frederick News Flash - read the latest news in this section on the home page, underneath the buttons.
  • Meeting Calendar/Event Calendar - we’ve split these two categories apart on the home page, so you can get to the information you’re most interested in more quickly.
  • Spotlights - these are recurring features that show up near the bottom of the home page and will be updated either weekly or monthly. If you have an idea for a spotlight you’d like to see, use the Website Feedback form at the bottom of the page.
New Menus
When you scroll over any of the topics along the top (Living in Frederick, Doing Business, Your Government, Explore Frederick and I Want To…), you’ll see that the menus are easier to navigate (no more making sure your mouse is in exactly the right spot!). They also have pages for Current, Prospective and New Residents to hopefully more easily find the topics that apply to you. If you have any suggestions for these pages please let us know.

New Navigation Tools – Underneath the search bar, you’ll see a wheel button and an arrow button, along with graphic buttons for each of the town’s social media accounts.
  • Wheel Button – the Wheel gives you some more options you may need as you’re moving through the site, like a way to make pages printer friendly, a place to sign up for RSS feeds for each page, email a page to a friend or translate a page into another language.
  • Arrow Button – The Arrow gives you a quick and easy way to share any of the content on our website to your social media accounts on many different platforms like Facebook and Twitter
  • Social Media Buttons – Icons for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter take you to each of the Town’s social media accounts.
Please let us know anything you’d like about the new site – what do you like, what don’t you like, what’s missing, etc. You can use the website feedback form at the bottom of the website, or email Community Relations Manager, Megan Williams, directly.
