Critical Incident Response Team

Weld County Critical Incident Response Team

In the interest of continued transparency between the Frederick Police Department and the community we serve, we have entered into an agreement with Weld County. This agreement complies with Senate Bill 219. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Chief Gary Barbour and commits our department to the newly formed Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). There are many purposes for the creation of this multi-jurisdictional / Weld District Attorney team. It promotes a fair, professional and impartial investigation during evidence collection in an officer involved shooting. It may also be used by participating Weld County law enforcement agencies in some cases of officer involved use-of-force .

The Frederick Police Department has two members assigned to the team, one as a supervisor and the other in an investigatory role. You can contact the department at 720-382-5700 with any questions about this agreement.
