The Planning Department is responsible for coordinating the review of development applications to ensure compliance with town policies, codes, and regulations. Types of applications include annexations, comprehensive plan amendments, zoning map amendments, subdivisions, oil and gas extraction, and residential, commercial, and industrial development projects.
Planning staff members help guide land developers through the application process, which generally begins with a neighborhood meeting to notify area residents of the proposed project.
Staff then coordinates a formal review of the application through the town Development Review Committee (planning, engineering, fire, and attorney) and outside agencies, organizations, and interested parties.
Additional Planning Services
Planning staff is also available to the public in a less formal capacity to provide information on zoning, infrastructure, town services and other issues related to land development.
