Welcome to Frederick, Colorado

With its proximity to the Denver metro area and other population, employment, and education centers, Frederick has experienced dynamic growth over the past several years. Projections show that the growth will continue in southwest Weld County and will ultimately create one of northern Colorado's major population centers.

NISP to Bring Water to Frederick for Decades to Come
The Town of Frederick is one of fifteen participants who propose to get future water supplies from the Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP).  NISP would include Glade Reservoir, a 170,000 acre-foot reservoir to be built north of Fort Collins, along with a smaller Galeton Reservoir northeast of Greeley that would be used as part of an exchange program with local farmers.  After studying various options for future water supplies over the past several years, the Town Board has decided that NISP offers the best alternative for a dependable high quality source of potable water.  More details about NISP and the Draft Environmental Impact Study for NISP can be found on the Northern Water website at http://www.ncwcd.org/project_features/nisp_details.asp .
NEW Letter to Editor as seen in Longmont Times-Call and Carbon Valley Farmer and Miner from Mayor Pro Tem Sue Wedel in favor of NISP, also contains information on NISP Ag Rally on June 30, 2009

Storm Water Utility Created Within Town of Frederick Engineering Department
Following the dissolution of the Weld County Tri-Area Sanitation District (Tri-Area) at the beginning of this year, the Town has agreed to assume the responsibility for storm water drainage operations for all areas within the Town limits and the unincorporated area of Weld County known as Evanston.  The Town has been moving in this direction since the efforts to form a regional drainage authority failed several years ago.  To fund the costs of providing storm drainage protection and meeting the related requirements mandated by the state and federal governments, the Town has adopted an ordinance creating a Storm Water Utility as an enterprise fund within the Town of Frederick.
